The food sounded delicious, but the portions were teeny. Even the steak flatbread didn't fill a person up. I got the pork steak with peach and onion garnish (sounds weird, but the garnish was delicious). The food came out in rapid time, but that should have been an omen. The pork was terribly dry. I had to practically saw at the meat to cut it off the bone. Around the bone was more gristle than I would see on a Walmart pork steak! I couldn't believe that my teeny-tiny dried-out pork steak with 6 sticks of green beans would have been $18! On top of that, the ambiance was awful. Oh in pictures, it was quaint. In fact, from the street looking into the windows, it looked adorable. Nope! It echoed so badly I might as well have been at a rock concert. NOT the place to pick for date night! Perhaps I could have taken my mother-in-law... at least I would have an excuse for not listening to her!

Amazing! I've been to this restaurant twice in the past 2 days and would go again tonight if I could!. The atmosphere is calm and inviting. The staff is available and kind. The food is interesting, nicely portioned and DIFFERENT! And the cocktails - served in vintage glasses and spectacular.

Deviled eggs are fabulously crafted with chunky sweet pickles, great idea ! (I'm stealing it lol) hands down the best melt in your mouth cured salmon app ever. (Not a fan of the slaw, just my opinion) service and atmosphere awesome. For a small space it feels strangely large with the 10 foot fun house mirrors!

I went to Water Street based on the Sauce Cafe rating of 9.7, the menu online and the fact we were looking for a new place to try. I may have to have words with Sauce Cafe. I really feel as if the 3 star rating I gave Water Street was generous. First and foremost, it was so noisy in the restaurant due to a group of women who were there for a "gathering" rather than for dinner that my partner literally couldn't hear ourselves and we were sitting within a foot of one another. Since the place isn't a bar, I asked the waitress about this. Her response was that if the restaurant was filled, it would be just as noisy. That's when I decided I would never come back. The place is very small, so there's no way to get away from the noise. OK, you don't care how noisy it is, so let me get to the food. The deviled eggs were excellent! The stuffed dates were not to my taste, too sweet and the bacon must have been flavorless because I couldn't taste it at all. I'd give them no more than a 5. Go to Sanctuaria if you want really good stuffed dates. I had the pear and prosciutto flatbread. The pears were not ripe, so had a sort of bitter taste not because of the balsamic flavor. The whole dish didn't work and was kind of off-putting. I'd give it a 5. My partner had the chicken pot pie. She found a bit of metal in it that she was sure was part of a pop top from canned chick broth. She thought it was boring and bland. I tasted it, and I found it way, way too salty. 6. One really bright spot was the raspberry lemonade. It was wonderful. A 10! Too bad I'll never be back to try it again. Oh, the service was very good and the prices were reasonable.

no star actually! horrible experience. awful food. we went on a Friday night at about 7 pm.no reservations. the place was packed..strange given the way the evening unfolded. so we were seated in the window display area on some comfortable chairs and were given a 10-inch folding table. then the wait started...and it lasted about 30 minutes. we waved at the waiter and he stopped by, visibly rushed and impatient about any questions we asked. he was so rude we only had a chance to order one drink. he said he' d give us more time with the selection of the second drink. 10 minutes later he reappeared and we ordered the second drink. he served it and turned around so quickly, leaving us no chance to order some food. we were starving. it was already 8 pm. finally. we waved again and he came. we asked a few questions about the food. he pretended to not hear and just took our order -- the pork chop and the mussels strew. we specifically ordered the pork medium not well done. well it came out white-- Tv dinner white and tough. the mussel stew was watery. we asked told the waiter that we did not like the food and the manager came. as if he knew about the horrible food. no questions asked he just let us leave. funny. can't wait to see how long this place will last for..another few months perhaps.

We had a great experience at Water Street the other night! I like the retro vibe, it's very small, but the mirrored wall makes it seem bigger. Also, they have seating outdoors on the front sidewalk, which is nice. We were just there for appetizers and cocktails, and the waitress suggested the "zombie" which was a drink with orange bitters, that was so good! I had two, and wanted 3! We got the steamed mussels to share, and wowza! Lovely spicy tomato broth with chorizo and some perfectly buttered grilled bread to sop up the delicious soupy tomato sauce. We actually had more bread so we didn't waste any, even though I would have eaten the rest with a spoon. The menu is limited, but if they focus on making sure everything on it is this good, then it's fine with me! I can't wait to go back and try something else!

I went to Water Street last night for the first time and I will definitely be back! Like the other reviews mentioned, service was great and they were extremely friendly. Wonderful laid back vibe to the restaurant and their Happy Hour drink specials are great. Dirty martini with a blue cheese stuffed olive for $5 from 5-7? Can't beat that. Great suggestions from staff on beers on tap too. The bacon wrapped cheese stuffed dates were still hot and delicious! The trio bruschetta was kind of a fun take with one slice having tomato/balsamic mixture, one slice having pesto and one slice having this great cheese/honey combo. My boyfriend loved the Steak and Guinness pie, but I can't pass up mussels. I wanted to drink the broth like soup it was such a nice spicy tomato kick! It comes with 2 slices of bread and they offered more if I wanted it. I'm already planning a return trip.

My mom and I tried this restaurant last night and were very pleased! Starting off with cocktails... we tried the Moscow Mule which had lime, vodka and ginger ale. A vintage-style drink with a refreshing kick. Two thumbs up! We also tried the $5 happy hour cosmo martini. And was it ever good! I had to order a 2nd because it was so tasty. :) Moving on to the food... we split the trio of brushetta and was pleasantly surprised by the sweet pairing of gorgonzola and honey as well as a pesto brushetta and carpresse one too. We then split the steak and Guinness pie with fall vegetables and a puff pastry crust. So hearty and perfect for fall days--it just had the most wonderful flavor! The place is situated right next to Acero on the Maplewood strip so it's easy to find. Service was wonderful. We'll definitely go back soon. I would recommended expanding the menu just a little bit to add a handful more options.

Good drink, little too refreshing, but I'm sure that was the aim, roasted carrot soup is like a bowl of roasted root vegetables, great selection at bar for the size of the place, looks like those thing they chose to offer were well thought out, couple good beers on tap, peaked at dinner menu, reasonable prices, great cocktail list, bar open till 1 AM on weekends, great sammy, simple, tasty. Will definitely be back.

This is definitely one of my favorite spots for cocktails and happy hour. They have so many different types of drinks that would appeal to anyone's pallet. My husband is a beer drinker, and I usually go for wine, but when we go to Waterstreet I always get cocktail. My favorite is the Silver Cloud. It's light and tangy with a bit of heat from the serrano pepper. They even have a non-alcoholic cocktail menu which was so appreciated when I was pregnant. I have a few favorites from the food menu which include the flatbread (like a pizza) and the mussels and chorizo. They have a few flatbread flavors that are permanently on the menu, but they also have a special that changes weekly. The mussels and chorizo is served in a luxurious broth with potatoes and corn on the cob. I love dipping the crostini in my bowl. My husband's favorite dish is the dates, we order them every time. The pork chop is amazing, as well as the desserts. Some other reviews commented that this place is a little pricey, but I totally disagree! All of the the food is fresh and lots of it is from local purveyors, which I think is worth spending your money on. This restaurant has a great location and the staff is always knowledgeable and friendly. Give this place a try; you won't be sorry!

Probably more like 3.75 but I still like this place. Stopped in and ate at the bar, splitting an app and a dish with my gf. The space is really attractive and the cocktails were really good. The food is reasonably priced and the service was good - not overly attentive, but friendly. Will definitely return and have been recommending it to friends.
Dined there again and another great experience. Tried the vegetable lasagna and found the best lasagna I have had in my 43 years!! Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing. My wife had a martini and a flatbread. We really enjoyed every aspect of our visit.

Nothing really wrong with the place but just not that good. It's not worth the price. The service is fair, but mostly snooty which matches the overall vibe of the place. It's cute, hip, dark, but the food just isn't worth the price. Salmon was dried out and potpie had been chicken cooking for days. Again, decent, but not great. My wife described the food as underwhelming... Less than thrilled to come home and find a giant stain on the seat of my dress pants from where I sat. Guess the place was too dark and hip for me to notice before I sat down. Save your money... too many better/consistent options for the price.

I just went for the first time last night and fell in LOVE with this place! As soon as we walked in I could tell the atmosphere and overall service was going to be amazing. We only went for drinks and a dessert, but definitely checked out the menu while there. Although the menu is extremely limited, there are a few different options for everyone. The brownie dessert we ordered was very small, but still very decadent. I really don't think I could have eaten a bigger piece. One of my favorite things about this restaurant is the choice of 1/2 bottles of wine on the menu. A lot of places don't do this in St. Louis, but what a fantastic option! We will be back for dinner soon. Great place to have in Maplewood!

Worth the Groupon. Maybe not worth the price on the menu. The bacon wrapped dates were yummy but not spectacular. The trout was well-cooked but anything covered in bacon is delicious. The pork would have been amazing had it been prepared medium as I asked. Instead it was well done. I'd rather get trichinosis than eat a well-done pork chop. Saving grace: cocktails. Definitely a place to get pre- or post-dinner drinks.

Water Street is a GEM. Friendly, pitch-perfect servers - there when they should be, but not fawning or hovering. Reading the menu is half the fun. It's intimate yet comfortable, and the small kitchen is amazing. Loved the steak and the trout. Great drink menu, and don't miss the Strawberry Torte for dessert!

My friend and I stopped in while in the area for the Maplewood Art Fair. It was pretty packed but they found us a spot at the bar. We ordered a salad to share and then each got an entree. We were both very happy with all the food. I ordered a chicken entree that they happily converted to gluten-free :-) Even though the place was packed we received excellent and friendly service. I was a very happy camper and will most likely be back!

I went to Water Street with a friend of mine to grab a drink and something to eat right after work. At first glance I liked the minimal modern decor. I ordered a glass of pinot grigio from their wine list. I would not suggest ordering the Citrus Spring Salad, which was completely lacking of flavor. It was served with slices of onions, radish, a few pieces of orange and a citrus viniagrette. My friend ordered the cucumber appetizer and was disappointed to pay $5 for three slices of cucumber topped with cheese. We also ordered the bruschetta, which was very good. All in all I would mostly likely only go back to grab a cocktail or dessert.

Always a great meal. The dishes are made with fresh ingredients, service is unpretentious and spot on. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. They take reservations, always advized on the weekends. The appetizers are all great, and entrees are very hearty. Well worth the value.

This place is really, really good. My wife and I went to celebrate our anniversary (we've been married long enough to use a Groupon on our anniversary) and loved it. We had the orange and raspberry appetizer, which was a very unique taste, and the flavors melded wonderfully. We also had the polenta, which had an incredible amount of parmesan cheese on it. Oh, my goodness. So yummy. Finished with pie and ice cream. A couple of minor hiccups: didn't have the lasagne that appears online, so there was only one vegetarian main dish. Also, had decided beforehand on a wine, and it had also been replaced by another wine. So, two of the things we planned on ordering weren't on the menu anymore. But, replacements were very good. Altogether, worth the price even without the Groupon. Not for every day, or even every month, but really good. Total bill with tip $100. Includes appetizer, two main dishes, dessert and bottle of wine. After Groupon, $74. Can't understand why this place averages 3.5 stars...

First experience for dinner with friends, Our waiter was Spot On-professional, attentive & just the right amount of service. Appetizers were ok. Salad was lettuce & parmesan, entrees fair. Nothing worth the price. Wine served is little glasses & over prices. Likely won't return.

Took my date here today. The environment is small and cozy which is what I like about downtown maplewood. There were only several people when we went and we were seated by the window (IMO best place to be seated here). Restaurant Is small and kitchen is small but everything is visible which is nice. The service started out well but was kind of slow. Especially since later, we were the only ones there. Food came out at an appropriate time. Food prices range from $10-25. Food quality was good, but i think simple enough for diy at home for what we ordered and would say its slightly overpriced.... Had the trio bruschetta for appetizer. Chicken pot pie for entree which was on point! Date had beef tenderloin. Beef didn't seem extremely flavorful but was cooked to her liking. Asparagus seasoned well. Mashed potatoes were average. For dessert we had the pie with ice cream which we enjoyed. Overall fair experience and worth a try! They also have happy hour from 5-7pm weekdays :)

This place does not get the credit it deserves. Just the bar program alone is enough to deserve repeat business. The thing I like so much about Gabe's cocktail list is how nice these drinks are without any of the pretension of other establishments around town. Some of my favorite drinks in St. Louis are made at this itty bitty bar. Imaginative combinations and quality house-made syrups and such. Garnish anything with rock candy and I will never leave you. Everything I've tried food-wise has been pretty great. It's not a cheap night out, but I like it a lot better than the place next door. I won't name names, but it rhymes with Bacero. Water Street. Recommended for: business-types, cocktail enthusiasts, single ladies who just moved to Maplewood and like to take themselves to dinner, and couples with dogs.

Great food, limited selection but great specials and generous portions. Prices are slightly high. Not likely to return. We had the same hairy, unkempt, not busy but impatient and somewhat rude server. Just unlucky I guess...

Very good food and nice atmosphere in downtown Maplewood. Had the Bruschetta trio without the prosciutto as an appetizer and it was outstanding. For a main course had the roasted vegetable lasagna and it was also outstanding. The service was top-notch and the atmosphere subdued, a great place to go to with friends. Nice location in the heart of Maplewood but Manchester Road can be quite busy and parking can be a challenge.

unique, inventive, wonderful Had the prociutto wrapped mahi mahi over grilled bread cubes, greens, and local tomatoes. fantastic. bartender served great cocktails- and offered a perfect blend of my favorite ingredients with his own flair. Food is incredibly value priced. thought it was intimate and inviting. Will try the aero pressed coffee the next time.

My sister and I stopped here for a bite. Fantastic handcrafted cocktails. We loved the Gran Turismo. The bacon wrapped dates are also delicious. The owner is a gem and accommodated our food allergies. We shared a polenta dish with goat cheese. Everything was wonderful, great service and good music playing too! Will return!

Small and unique menu. Enjoyed the Bruschetta appetizer alot; Chicken Pot Pie and Bacon Layered Trout were also good. Service sizes were just right, no left overs. Plus a half bottle of sparkling moscato equaled 59.00, without tip. Pretty, romantic ambiance. For those that like a bit more space between yourselves and other customers this might be a bit too close for comfort. We enjoyed it and would recommend to others looking for something new to try, I probably won't be back because I have other favorites.

Good lord...where has this place been all my life. This is truly a hidden gem in the heart of Maplewood. The service was great and the food was wonderful. The chicken pot pie, stuffed dates, and crawfish dip are not to be missed.

I have lived in Maplewood for over 2 years now and would have never even noticed this little delicious place if it wouldn't of popped up on groupon. (I always assumed it was part of aceros.) For a double date, it was wonderful. If you're going you should DEFINITELY make a reservation, it was busy during "dinner" hours but we sat right down for our scheduled reservation at 9 and by 945 it was about cleared out besides the bar. For an appetizer: We had the bacon wrapped dates, as mentioned by most yelpers and boy were we pleased. Not to mention, our wonderful waiter, Scot, was very knowledgeable and seasoned and mentioned that we could get four instead of three servings. For Dinner: my sister and I shared the clam Parmesan flatbread and the bacon topped golden trout. Wow. Both very different tastes, but both very savory and satisfying. Our boyfriends ordered the potpie and the grilled polenta with shrimp. Per other reviews, the potpie did only have crust on top and not surrounding the dish, but he still found it very delightful. Even though he was not expecting the shrimp to have tails attached, there was not a speck left on the plate. We had a variety of drinks and were very pleased overall. Thanks to the groupon, it was an affordable and yummy evening! We wouldn't be able to budget this kind of dinner on a regular basis, but it is definitely a good find in the downtown Maplewood strip!

Giving Water Street a 2 star for two reasons: First, we were seated then waited 10 mins before anyone came to take our drink orders. Second, the food was below par for the price. I would advise my friends not to dine here.

Great bar, the bartender Gabe is also the owner. tonight, dandelion liqueur infused drinks. The Dandy Lion martini earthy with great dandelion flavors. Ever had dandelion greens? delicious. The food is prepared by his sister, does an amazing job with the veggie lasagna and trout. Not your traditional lasagna as expected but much elevated in flavors and texture. Unique, a must try for those who seek above traditional. I had a groupon and i would go back without one to try the other dishes. Quite impressive the combination of bar and food. A must try

My husband and I eat at Water Street about once a month. We love the small menu, delicious food and incredible drinks. You have to try the bruschetta trio!
Best restaurant and cocktail bar in St Louis by far! Ambiance, quality, service all in check. Must haves-bacon wrapped dates, a Lions Tooth cocktail, & pot pie.

This was a great experience. I bought the half off groupon. The bf ordered the chorizo mussel broth soup. It had great flavors, it was cohesive and not too complex. I ordered a shrimp mushroom polenta with mozarella on top. SO good - it was exactly what I was looking for. Light, fresh like it was straight from the market. For drinks, I ordered the zombie. The name is definitely apt, it was not my thing, I felt like I was slightly undead - it was just strong, so strong there wasn't really a flavor. The service was awesome, our server explained the dishes when we had questions. We'll be back!

Nice little place. We had been a while back but I forgot until we got there. It is a very small place with very tight tables, better for a dinner with friends than a private date night, it's very noisy. The service is good, I think they only had two servers covering the whole place, but they were on top of it. The best part was the cocktail and wine list, the bartender is top notch. The food was good, but the portions were smaller than I'd like. I had the salmon appetizer, and the seafood and chorizo stew for dinner. The stew was the most expensive entree on the menu at $20, which I picked thinking it would be the largest meatiest choice. But there is hardly any meat or anything other than water (stew). The couple next to us had the same for dinner and after I was about to get mine, I overheard them discussing how there was nothing of substance there. Sadly he was right. Everything tasted great though. Both the wife and I finished all of our dinner, and dessert and were still hungry when we got home. We would go back for drinks, and desserts, but probably eat somewhere else. Also on a Saturday night it isn't the best place for kids.

Food wasn't bad - fresh product and a nice cocktail menu. I wish it was better but the service was the worst. We saw our server twice. Once when we ordered a couple of drinks and appetizer and once about 20 minutes later to order our food. She never checked on us while we are - never refreshed our drinks which we would have enjoyed another. We also wanted desert but after sitting for 20 minutes after our food was done and plates were stacked on the table (to try and get her attention) we were more than ready to go. Decided to go somewhere else for a couple of cocktails and desert. As someone with over 10 years of front of house restaurant experience to say I was bummed out and disappointed is an understatement especially when we could see our server walking back and forth and she never came by...even had to ask another server to bring our check. Tip for the restaurant - if you chronically get reviews about poor service - staff one more server. It doesn't look like this is the first review with an issue with poor service and it was so bad that it made us go to another restaurant to spend money. While the food was good, the taste left in my mouth was bitter when I left.

Chicken pot pie was on point, I had roasted vegetable lasagna, both had a lot of flavor. Atmosphere was cool. They have movie night on Friday nights. The drink I had was a basil ginger cocktail, it wasn't bad. Overall nice place, service was good.

3.5 stars. Ambiance: small place that looks larger thanks to the wall of mirrors, tightly packed tables, but comfortable. Food: Chicken pot pie- I was pleasantly surprised with this dish. Heavy on chicken and veggies, no potatoes just to fill the dish in sight. Beef Goulash- kind of unimpressive. The beef was fine, some was a bit overcooked and dry. Potatoes and brussel sprouts were ok. Great service, probably a good place to come for drinks and just relax.

Probably my favorite restaurant in St. Louis, and yes, I am partial to the wonderful Maplewood neighborhood. However, the great location is just one of the perfect things about Water Street. The ambience couldn't be any better; whether you are going out on a date night, a fun dinner with the girls, or with a small group of mixed company this place fits the bill. Gabe, the owner, is the NICEST guy and will do anything he can to make sure you experience is nothing but positive. He will even personally call you if a reservation cancels last minute so you can get a table at this gem (tip: if possible make reservations on a Friday or Saturday night). The warm medjool dates are a delicious appetizer as is the pear and prosciutto flatbread. My husband is a huge fan of the chicken pot pie and my personal favorite is the pork chop that comes topped with a fig and cherry sauce. Of course I could not finish this review without speaking of the cocktails, those wonderful vintage inspired cocktails! The zombie and grapefruit gimlet are popular, but my number one pick is the Immortal Clay. Just writing this review makes me want to stop by for dinner tonight! Check it out for sure if you are in the area, but even if you are not, it is worth the trip.

My feelings are all over the place for this restaurant. I eventually settled on 3 stars, and I'll just give some brief thoughts. I liked the atmosphere. It is small, but comfortable. Staff were all nice, competent, and attentive. I always drink about 3 or 4 glasses of water besides any other drink I order, and the bus girl was very good about keeping me filled up. Dishes also were cleared very quickly whenever we were finished with an item. Food was also tasty and very fresh. There was plenty of good flavor, and it seemed that everything was prepared fresh at the time we ordered it. May not have been necessarily so for all ingredients - but that's how it tasted. The stuffed dates appetizer was a delightful surprise: crispy bacon wrapped around a date that was stuffed with goat cheese and some kind of chopped nuts; served on fresh basil leaf with a tangy/tart balsamic reduction. As good as it sounds. My mussels, shrimp, and chorizo "stew" was also fairly good. It's not actually a stew, but I don't know what you call it. I do only say fairly good, though. While everything tasted good, I thought the slices of corn on the cob could have been less crunchy, and I really feel it would have benefited from a slightly thicker or more melded stew/soup/whatever. My wife's chicken pot pie, however, was excellent. Fresh and light and creamy/chickeny. Now my gripe, and it's really a deal breaker for me, is that I left hungry. The place is not really expensive, so I can't claim that I dropped a load. But still...I want to leave full. For example, our $3 Fever-Tree soft drinks were only 6.8 oz. [Oh, and the bitter lemon flavor WAS bitter. I had to get through it in tiny sips, but my wife loved it.] Likewise, the stuffed dates appetizer was only $6, but consisted of three thumb-size dates! My entree seemed a tad small when brought out, but the thinnish broth meant that I was left wanting more. Only the wife's pot pie seemed sufficient. So I wound up eating half of hers. Now I'm not a big guy. I only weigh 145 lbs. But I do long distance running, so I need a decent amount of food. Don't leave me hanging. So...atmosphere & service, check; flavor, check; volume, ehhh needs work.

I can't help being in ahhh at people. I read the reviews and for those who say it's small, they are hungry, it's slow...wow you really have no social skills or travel experience do you? Slow, a good thing, you could go to a drive through w a cell phone if you are hungry and in a hurry. Going out to dinner with friends is a privilege and an experience it should not be rushed. Small, have you never been to NY or Europe. Again, if you want big go to a cafeteria in South County or maybe "you" are the one taking up too much square footage. The ambiance is charming, food delicious and a great place overall. Sorry some Midwesterners don't get it. Really, go to a buffet next time where you can be nice and full.

I've come to terms with the fact that I am unhip, but I do often enjoy places that are clearly trying to be. Dark mood lighting, larger cocktail menu than food menu, extremely small, some couches by the window. There is only one waitress and one bartender so if the place is full (meaning like ten people) expect to wait a stupid long time for your food and drinks. The delicious looking pot pie that costs $15.00 has crust on top, but not on the bottom or sides. Crust on top does not make a pot pie. It tasted like banquet frozen pot pies minus the extra delicious crust. Expensive, slow, small, dark, chic, but not elegant or classy. I guess next time I will just go down the street and have a pretzel and a beer.

I'm at about 4.4 stars here. The only thing holding me back is a small menu and pricey cocktails. The service is a HUGE part of the high marks. The guy we had this past Friday night stood back watching each table very attentively for signs that we needed anything. I only had to glance up, and he was approaching our table with a smile. Great, great service! There aren't a lot of tables. The lighting is subdued. It's intimate and cozy. They have a large patio area, so I look forward to coming here when the weather is warmer and dining outside. My husband and I both had the Water Street cocktail (see picture). It was pretty tasty and, with the water we were given, lasted us the entire meal. They specialize in retro cocktails here, so that made for a unique drink list, but unfortunately, they are $2-$3 too pricey for our taste at $9 each. The entrees were pretty reasonably priced, however. My husband had the Chorizo and Mussels ($13), which he said was very good but a touch spicy. They did not skimp on the mussels. It was served with 2 pieces of toasted bread, and his only suggestion is that they add another piece or 2 of bread to help finish up the tasty sauce at the end. I had the Steak & Guiness Pie ($14, see picture). It was an Irish stew in a pot pie, and again, they do not skimp on the main prize. They were tons of chunks of beef. The meal was tasty and very filling. Try to hold out and let it cool after you break through the pasty puff topping. I burned my tongue. While we were there, there was a group of about 15 girls, so it seemed they could accommodate groups...but not many of them.

Food is amazing. Missy is an amazing server. The atmosphere is upscale-casual. I've yet to eat something that I could classify as less than "good". Most meals are astounding give the pot pie a try! These are the type of people who build loyal customers.

Met a couple girlfriends after work. We sat in the front window -- very comfortable. Service was top-notch. Waters refilled often. We ordered beverages while studying the meager menu. Decided on apps to share: deviled eggs made with sweet pickle relish ($4) bacon-wrapped dates with a balsamic reduction and stuffed with goat cheese ($6) the bruschetta trio: almond-basil pesto, tomatoes with mozz and balsamic, and gorgonzola with honey ($9). We cut all the bruschettas into thirds, so we could taste all three. Then, another order of deviled eggs. They were divine. The eggs were creamy deliciousness, so tasty. The dates were interesting. It seemed the balsamic reduction carmelized the bacon. They were good, but I couldn't taste the goat cheese too well. The bruschettas were all quite good. The almond-basil pesto was strong. The tomatoes were fresh and juicy. Good balance with the mozz and balsamic. The gorgonzola was not heavy-handed, and the honey shone through. Together, the three were a delightful and artistic blend of flavors. For dessert, one ordered the brownie butter square -- a rich-looking brownie topped with fresh raspberries with a side of freshly whipped cream. It was a beautiful presentation.

I hate just giving two stars. But I left this place frustrated. I was with a group of people and we heard the good reviews, plus we had a groupon or something so we figured - why not! I ordered a bottle of wine. The waitress looked at me with a blank look. Maybe I pronounced it wrong? No biggie. I often butcher words. My friends ordered a bunch of plates to share. I on the other hand just wanted something lighter to eat. So I ordered a Caesar salad. I'm then told they are out of lettuce. Um. what? How does a restaurant run out of lettuce? Back in the day I worked at a small place like water street. If we ran out of something important (milk, lettuce etc etc) SOMEONE went to the grocery store and got some. The waitress offered me a caprese salad as a substitute. You know, because they are so similar. (I'd like to note that my friends said their food was fantastic) The wait staff was attentive in filling our water glasses. But our waitress wasn't very attentive otherwise. She may have been busy. But for such a small place we had to flag her down too many times. All in all - I think they were having an off night. I'll go back sometime to try it out again with hopes for a better experience because I hear the food really is good!

I went here with a groupon. I was not impressed and actually was pretty disappointed in the atmosphere, the flavor of the food, and the quality of it and the value. The only good thing about this place was the location and the service. It is simple inside, very open but small. They have front patio seating on a busy street corner where you can get a lovely view of Church's Chicken across the street. The menu is pricy trendy bistro stuff. I got a flat bread sandwich and my date ordered a mussels and chorizo stew. My sandwich was tasty but for the price it was nothing special. They have a tiny menu and I think about 3 flatbreads on it. Some variety would have been nice! My date hated his dinner. He said the chorizo was awful and the seafood rubbery and over-cooked. He said the broth was totally flavorless and way too oily. Also, it was impossible to eat, I could tell that, myself - with the corn on the cob soaked in broth and the mussels in the shells, etc. This place, just not worth it. It's pricey, the menu is tiny with no variety and they don't seem to care about putting any care and skill into preparing the dishes. Won't go back it, wouldn't recommend it.

Love the decor, and like others, found the service quite good. Ordered caesar salad - when did caesar salad dressing lose the lemon? The salad had lots of nice, thinly sliced parmesan, but the dressing was overly generous & tasted like ordinary vinegarette. For dinner, my husband ordered the veggie lasagna special, and I ordered polenta. Neither bowled us over, although servings were large. Like others remarked, the food was good for the price point, but I'd have preferred to pay a bit more for a better-prepared dinner. Heard desserts are fabulous, but we were full already. The place was crowded and so a bit noisy.

UGH I hate to give a 2-star because the staff was so friendly and the restaurant seems so cool... however, the food just didn't work. I came here because of the Groupon, and because I'd passed this place while driving and always loved the little strung lights over the patio. We sat outside, despite the warnings of an incoming storm, and ordered drinks (he got the corpse reviver, which was good; I got the Gerard Bertrand Pinot Noir, which was.. acidic). Appetizer was a bacon-wrapped medjool date: it wasn't really that flavorful, which was odd. If you want a really good bacon-wrapped date, go to Modesto in The Hill. So, undeterred by the unimpressive medjool dates, we pressed on to entrees: he ordered the grilled strip steak, I got the mussels, shrimp, and chorizo. Strip steak arrived overcooked (he had ordered medium rare, the animal that arrived was thoroughly grey-ish), which wasn't a big deal except for that it took a solid 10-15 minutes for anyone to check on us (to be fair, it was the only lapse in service throughout the night, although arguably at the most critical point in our dinner) and my poor date was about to eat his hand off. However, he maintained composure, ate his sides (grilled asparagus and a creamy potato salad, which he said were "fine"), and when we were able to flag down a server later they were really good about replacing his visibly overcooked steak with a pinker variety. However, even with the requested medium-rare disposition, the steak was really unimpressive: chewy, flavorless, and definitely not a $23 dish (thanks Groupon for absorbing the hit on that one!). My boyfriend (aka the Garbage Disposal) who generally loves all things animal flesh was really disappointed with his steak, which shocked me (until I took a bite, chewed it 20 times, and then began to understand his pain). SO, onto my dish. I really like the concept of a mussels, chorizo, potato and corn a la cob stew- I like all of the aforementioned ingredients, so let's throw them in a pot! Unfortunately, what I was served wasn't cohesive or all that tasty- it was a bunch of disjointed, flavorless items submerged in a weak broth that tasted more like veggie stock. The potatoes were undercooked (have you ever eaten a hard potato? I felt like some sort of medieval eastern european peasant), the chorizo consisted of about 4 slices of mild sausage, the mussels were okay, and the corn saved the day in my book but could have used a little more attention. In looking at other pictures of the soup, I see that mine looked way more watery, it didn't have that bright red broth like I've seen other patrons have had. So, I'm not sure if they changed up the recipe or what, but they should definitely change it back. This experience just reminded me why I should always carry sriracha sauce in my purse. ... I just re-read that and it's coming across as harsh, but the disappointment still stings. I so wanted this meal to be fabulous, as the restaurant itself has a very cool vibe and the entire staff was so welcoming and hardworking. However, none of the food really worked for me- it all seemed very amateurish and was priced wayyyyy too high for what we ended up getting. I don't know if they were having an "off" night or what was going on, but I won't be returning. Sorry, Water Street. That all having been said, I had a perfectly romantic night with the BF and we really enjoyed the patio seating and the friendly service. If we would have stuck with their mixed drinks and maybe had desserts (which look good!), my opinion of the restaurant might be totally different. However, in terms of wine list (wine by the glass specifically... only 4 red wines?!), entrees, and price.... it just wasn't happening.

It wasn't what we expected, but it was okay. We went for dinner and we were starving. Date night Friday for us and we wanted to try something different. The menu was nice; it just didn't have a lot of what I was interested in, but that doesn't mean it was a bad place. The drinks were okay and the owner was very nice and so were the other staff. It was a really clean, small, nice place to sit, have drinks, and chill. But we were hungry, so we had a drink and headed out afterwards for dinner. I cannot rate the food because I have not had the opportunity to try it, but it all smelled good. If I'm in the area again, I would probably go back to enough the ambiance with my boyfriend.

Don't miss this Maplewood gem! This is one of my husband and I's favorite places to go in our community. If you like classic cocktails served in vintage glasses and amazing food this is the place to go. The drink menu features classic cocktails with the owner's own twist to some old favorites. The food menu is created by his sister which features American contemporary dishes that are complex, wholesome, and appealing. Some of our food menu favorites are the chicken pot pie, craw-fish dip, stuffed dates, bruschetta trio, and you can't go wrong with the flatbreads. This is truly one place I can say I have always received excellent service even when it is packed. If you are not into cocktails they have diverse wine menu and great beers on tap. Monday through Thursday they have a great happy hour from 5-7 which features 1/2 off tap beer, $5 wine by the glass, and $6 select cocktails. A great option right now is to check out Groupon for Water Street as there is a great deal that you can go try the place and then, hopefully, become a repeat customer! Enjoy!

This was a lovely place for dinner; we had originally planned to go to Schlafly, but it was so crowded we decided to find another option - so glad we did!! We ordered the bruschetta trio as a appetizer, and all three were delicious!! He had the polenta for dinner and I had the trout - also amazing! Finally, we ended our dinner with the tart of the day, and that was by far my favorite part of the evening. I would highly recommend Water Street, it had a sweet atmosphere, excellent food, and the service was superb. We plan on heading back for one of their movie nights soon.

5 of us came in for dessert and drinks a few Saturdays ago and plopped right in the bar, no wait. The bartender was incredibly affable and informative, and put to rest the question of putting egg whites in drinks. The desserts were tasty.

Came in with a Groupon and I am glad because if we had paid full price it would have been an even bigger disappointment. The restaurant was practically empty as we dined early, but the service was inattentive at best. Our waiter was very unfriendly. I used to wait tables, and I don't expect my waiter to act like a cheerleader, but be friendly, please. I don't want to feel that by patronizing your restaurant I am bothering you. The food was under-seasoned and unremarkable.

I revisited this past Thursday. We were in the mood for a steak and I had a Groupon for Water Street. Reservations were not needed. There were a few other tables but they were not full. We started with the Pate. It was very good... light, airy, full of flavor, and served with a few baguette slices. For dinner we chose the strip steak and the pot pie. The strip steak was underwhelming. It really tasted like a lower grade of beef (maybe select or standard). There was little marbling and flavor. They did serve it with a nice topping of caramelized onions and mushrooms, but the steak itself was bland and boring. The pot pie was the opposite. It was very good. And the veggies inside were still crisp and held their flavor. We had two drinks. Nice pour. Our server this time was a dude. He was great. Very professional, accommodating, offering suggestions and always available. Much better service this time than the previous visit. Our meal before the Groupon was $70+. I'm not sure that the value matches what you get but again, look for a Groupon if you want to check them out at a discount.

Service was good. Most memorable part about Water Street is their assorted antique plates. Both of my grandmas' everyday dishware was part of the assortment. I had the chicken pot pie. It was okay: not bad, not fabulous. There were 5 people in my group. The place was full for the evening. We had reservations and were seated right away.
I've been here three times now and each time had great food/service and excellent drinks! I literally crave the Chicken pate now. Holy cow it's amazing! And the portion size is HUGE! (If you like to spread it thin, ask for extra toast - you could probably feed 4 people off that app)... I also really enjoy the chorizo/shrimp/mussel soup. It has potatoes and small portions of corn on the cob in it.. with a spicy tomato broth. DELICIOUS! My friend got the salmon and really enjoyed it as well. I've also had the bruschetta app. That was delicious too; esp. the pesto one. I'd definitely recommend coming. It's a little tight with tables, but a nice cozy atmosphere with very friendly wait staff - totally a must. And the old-fashioned drinks were very tasty!

I adore this place, it's open late, the staff is super friendly (especially the bartender, Gabe, he's an absolute delight and incredibly talented), the cocktails rival those of the big name craft cocktail bars in town, and the food is solid. I almost always sit at the bar, which is small, so it's best to go during off-peak hours to get a spot.

Romantic atmosphere, clean, and trendy. Our group got a few cocktails to start. They were good. We got their CAJUN CRAWFISH DIP and DATES for appetizers and they were both absolutely AMAZING! I got the chicken pot pie as the server said it was a favorite. It wasn't good but wasn't bad. My friend got the pear & prosciutto flatbread and it was pretty good. I will definitely go back.

This place has been open for a while - and while I wanted to try it, I never got around to it, because of the small menu that I wasn't quite sure about. It all sounded good, I just never seemed to be in the mood for anything on the menu. But finally, we stopped in here with some fellow Yelpers for some dinner and happy hour action. The cosmos for $5 were actually really good and well made - the wine was just eh, but what do you want for $3? They also had some beer for $3 during happy hour - including Goose Island, not bad! As mentioned, the menu is small - but it rotates somewhat frequently. We started with goat cheese stuffed dates that were wrapped in bacon. They were little bites of heaven, the sweet, salty and smokey flavors were perfect. For the main course, I had the grilled polenta with spinach and mushrooms - it was fantastic! It was covered with fresh parmesan, which really complemented everything really well. The entrees are nicely priced ($10-$15 range), especially for the quality and creativity of the dishes. The service was spot-on as well, our waitress was very knowledgeable about all the dishes, and was in a great mood - genuinely excited to tell us about the menu and what her favorites were. Water Street just may turn into one of my new favorite spots - and their patio is a perfect spot to enjoy a summer evening. I look forward to our next trip!

The staff here are very nice, the service is friendly, professional and efficient, and the atmosphere is warm. I just wish I could *rave* about this place, but in good consience, I cannot. If you have the stellar service we had and you order food and drinks that are all hits, you're probably going to give them 4 or 5 stars. Someone is not entirely on their game at Water Street. If they want to improve, someone with the right experience needs to screen more carefuly. We went once for cocktails and sat outside. The drinks get a lot of hype. We found some some good, some were just OK, but they were all fairly expensive. For our second visit, we had dinner inside and the results were mixed. It is very noisy and it needs better venting becuse we left smelling heavily like roasted meats/food. We ordered a punch bowl of the grapefruit cocktail and while the flavor itself was delicious, it also tasted too concentrated. One of us ordered the lemon lasagna. It was laden with the most delectable cheese and had unique, amazing flavors. One of us had the polenta dish with added shrimp and that was also really tasty. But the trout two out of four of us ordered was not good. It was dry (maybe overcooked?) and it just didn't taste seasoned. And that is what brings me back to my statement about someone in charge not completely doing their job. Did anyone look at that trout dish before it went out? If they did and they noticed how it looked, were they just hoping we wouldn't send it back? As the song says, "2 out of 3 ain't bad". Perhaps the Groupons are being sold because their business has been faltering. We didn't send anything back or even give the server the critical feedback, which we should have done. We were starving and it was late and we had a sitter waiting for us to return. We don't want to be one of those people who sends things back. However, in hindsight, I wish we had, or I wish we had at least given the feedback, because if the right person in charge is listening to the feedback and if they want to stay in busness and thrive, they have to fix these things. We truly want this establishment to succeed. If we start seeing consistently better reviews, we WILL be going back.

I'll keep it short. We arrived well before our reservations and had a seat at the small but quaint bar. Nice cocktail list and the bartender seemed to be a competent mixologist. Had a drink or two and were able to be seated early. The space was close, but not annoyingly so. At this point more cocktails were served as well as the rum punch (which did a good job of giving the 4 of us at the table a full glass or so each). The appetizers were yummy, dates were a big hit. The entrees were good, but not great. I've been spoiled lately by some pretty great experiences, and while this food is above average for the price point, its not exceptional. The desserts were the same way. I can say that everyone there was friendly and the place was crowded but I felt good about the service we received. Reading through a couple of the recent reviews, I have a feeling that they're getting feedback from the grouponers which are notoriously hard to please. Service was friendly and quick, drinks were strong and tasty, atmosphere was close, but not smothering, overall I liked it and would recommend it to others. The 4 stars because the food wasn't the best of the best, but it definitely wasn't bad and is above average.

Such a cool little restaurant in the Mapelwood Area. The girlfriend and I came here for our anniversary dinner and were pretty pleased. Great wine list, by the glass or bottle, along with a nice beer list - draft or bottle. I ordered the flatbread of the day (had goat cheese, spinach and bacon) and it was amazing. Very soft crust and the goat cheese was great. My girlfriend got the polenta and was pretty pleased, she ended up taking most of it home due to its size. For dessert we got the vanilla ice cream with espresso drizzled over it and a brownie, both very good. The wait staff was very nice and attentive and even took a pic of my girlfriend and I after our meal when we asked. Overall great dinning experience. The only gripe I have is that it was very hot in there. I was fanning myself most of the night as were a couple of other patrons.

I met a friend here this week and was surprised I had never heard of it or been there before. The atmosphere at 9:30 on a Saturday night was delightfully calm and the cocktails were quick, creative, and tasty. Also tried the bruschetta trio and bacon wrapped dates which were both excellent.

My favorite parts about Water Street were their diverse cocktail menu and happy hour specials. Select $3 craft draft beers, $5 cosmos and vodka or gin martinis from 5-7pm on weekdays, including Fridays. I had a delicious cosmo and also tried the Earl's Court cocktail. I had never had a mixed drink made with scotch and egg white and I highly enjoyed it and recommend it. Dinner menu is small (only about 6 entrees to choose from), and I was not huge fan of the flat bread special I ordered. However, the flat bread changes daily so I could love the one I have next time. Since the menu is so small I see Water Street as being more of an app and cocktail kinda place for me. The bacon wrapped dates and bruchetta trio were great! Overall the place is very small but looks bigger with the way they decorated it with mirrors on the walls. They have a small bar and the bartender service was wonderful as well at the wait staff. We also enjoyed sitting out on the patio out front that is again, small but perfect for a group of 4 of us. I do not recommend bringing a large group to Water Street as you would probably take up the whole restaurant. I will be back for cocktails and appetizers, but probably not for a meal.

Let's start with the positives. Excellent happy hour, goose island on tap for $3 a pint, $5 cosmos (if you like that) from 5-7 T-F. Service was awesome, our server was PUMPED about the menu, made everything sound fantastic. The food was served promptly and portions was good. I had the mussells, shrimp, and Chirizo which was almost like a seafood scallopini dish in a broth. It was very appetizing and well prepared. Here's the one major drawback to this restaurant. They had 6 main courses, I'm not saying you have to have pages of dishes, but 6 left something to be desired especially if you don't fall in love with any one of them. They do have some excellent appetizers in the bruscetta trio and bacon wrapped dates. Overall this restaurant is on the plus side with it's service being the standout, but probably some place that I would only visit rarely.

I came here last week while I was strolling down Manchester with my pup trying to waste some time while my BF was in a meeting. I was looking for any restaurant with a patio so I could eat dinner and enjoy the comapny of my four legged friend. I walked by Water Street assuming it was part of Acero. When I noticed it wasn't, I was eager to stop in and try out a new place. I asked the waitress if it was okay to have my dog on the patio. Once I got the go ahead, I plopped down with the dog at my feet and ordered some ice tea. The sweet canine-loving waitress brought out a plastic to-go container filled with water for my dog! How cool is that?! As mentioned by other reviewers, the menu is extremely limited. I usually don't think this is a problem when I can find at least one thing that looks good to me, and in this case there were several menu items that looked yummy. I opted for the polenta with asparagus, mushrooms, onions, spinach and cheese. I was surprised when the plate was delivered with a gigantic portion. The combo of warm grilled polenta, veggies and fresh spinach was delicious. The polenta was extremely flavorful and the perfect consistency. I think I was able to eat half the plate before throwing in the towel. I'm happy to have this place to go to when I want to bring my dog along!

I went to Water Street to celebrate a new job with a friend, and it was his suggestion. I am a serious lover of a good cocktail, and I don't like too many bells and whistles. I hate anything like an apple-tini, and St. Louis has far too many beer halls and sports bars for me. This place was pitch perfect. The service was TOP NOTCH. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and down to earth. All the food I've had here is excellent. The stuffed dates are pitch-perfect, the steak is seasoned just enough that the natural flavor still shines, and the cheese plate is a great item to share with someone (perhaps with another appetizer to fill out the order?). The setting is minimalist and chic, but very cozy and inviting. None of it felt pretentious or deliberately snooty. But the real reason to go here is the cocktials: THE COCKTAILS. Every cocktail was delicious and made with some local or fresh ingredient. The drinks might be a bit pricy ($8-$12 depending), but they are worth every dollar. The owner (Gabe) was behind the bar, and he made every drink with love and an artistic flair, but quickly. It reminded me of a slightly more upscale and minimalist version of The Royale, which is saying something really good. I will not only return here, but I intend to make it a regular hangout for me. I was thrilled to go there and I will be bringing my friends there for sure.

Went here and I have to say I picked the place because it looked interesting and I wanted to try some place new other than the old standards. They had a great selection of bourbons and a great wine selection. It was not very crowded so that was good for us. The staff was great, very attentive and very friendly. I had the bacon wrapped dates and the deviled eggs - which were both fantastic! I tried the pork from my friend and it was really good. I will for sure be back.

Went to Water Street with our Living Social coupon. Made a reservation for 6:30 on a Saturday night, and the place was full, except for the one table for 2, which we got. We were served water right away. Since the place is named Water Street, that makes sense. The menu is very small. The restaurant fix-it shows on TV would like that. But I thought maybe it was a tad too small. The only thing I wanted to eat on that menu was the grilled pork chop with apple hash and green beans. My husband ordered the chicken pot pie. My plate was appealing, and at first I liked the apple hash, which was unpeeled apples cooked up with, I don't know, stuffing material? However, after a while the apple skins sort of bothered me and I lost interest. My first bite of pork chop was good, nice and moist. However, I think I may have gotten a bit of bit of fat on that to keep it softer, because after that, it was too dry. Dry, dry, dry. The apple hash didn't help. I couldn't finish the pork chop. It was below average, I thought. My husband's chick pp was full of lots of white meat. However, he didn't care for the celery in it, and other than that, he thought it didn't have enough seasoning. The dough on top got VERY gooey and inedible. I think he ate the chicken out of it and left the goo ( ugh). We were somewhat interested in dessert, and almost decided upon Ted Drewes, but when the waiter brought the dessert and after dinner drink list, the grasshopper interested me and reminded me of Brandy Alexanders I used to get years ago. So I ordered the Alexander and coffee and he had Irish Coffee. They were attractively served and very good. The coffee was only lukewarm, which was disappointing. That's why it gets 3 stars--the drinks. We will probably never return, however. On the plus side, despite the busyness of the restaurant, the staff remained upbeat and service was reasonably quick. The restroom was also very clean and neat although spartan on this busy night. People kept coming in and business was booming, so I do wish them luck.

This is another time I wish Yelp had half stars, because I really had a 3.5 star experience. My girlfriend and I had dinner here two nights ago, and overall, it was a good time. The server was excellent, and the cocktails (we each had two) were unique and well-crafted. We had the bacon-wrapped stuffed dates as an app, which were very tasty. My partner had the trout, which she said was very good. I had the strip steak, which I ordered medium. It came out very well done, and was mostly greyish in color when I cut into it. I didn't say anything, and ended up eating the whole thing anyway, but it was kind of a bummer, as I don't eat steak out very often. I'll definitely try this place again but will probably opt for the pot pie next time around.

Went there with a friend since he had a Groupon. The place is very small, since we didn't have reservations we sat in bar stools facing the kitchen. The kitchen is about an 8x10 square, which included the dish washing station. The three people back there were so coordinated they never got in each others way. The food they produced was awesome. I had flat-bread with clam and cheese, my friend had steak, both were mouth watering good. Limited menu, cocktails were good from what I heard. Great experience, definitely will go back.

Stumbled on this place because of a Groupon, so glad I did. The bacon wrapped dates stuffed with goat cheese I could have eaten 10 of. I had one of the house special cocktails (Zombie) and it was OK but I didn't go there to drink. The entrée was summer lasagna, it was outstanding. The portion size was perfect and the price was astoundingly low. The only complaint I had was it was too cold, with the doors open and the air conditioning running, I had to ask the server to turn it down when the table next to me said they were cold as well. After that it was great. What a jewel in Maplewood. Next time I am trying the chicken pot pie, it looked great. The server told us it was a brother and sister team using some of their grandmothers recipe's. She happen to be there the night we came in. Thanks to grandma for the great meal and to the grand kids as well!!
(4)Terry M.
Dined there again and another great experience. Tried the vegetable lasagna and found the best lasagna I have had in my 43 years!! Our waiter was attentive but not overbearing. My wife had a martini and a flatbread. We really enjoyed every aspect of our visit.
(5)Sam W.

(4)Mark T.
Great place. Cool cocktails, good food, great service, fair prices - highly recommended. Martha is a sweetie!
(5)Kimberly M.
Returned for dinner on Friday night - Amazing meal...Shared the deviled eggs and Caesar salad - followed by the grilled polenta (me) and steak pot pie (husband) - everything was yummy! Attentive service, laid back and relaxing atmosphere!
(5)Jaclyn G.
(3)Julie L.
(4)Jasmine T.
We sauntered over here after a great meal at hwk. Drinks were exquisite, tried the modernista, the one with basil and the punch. Very innovative with the spirits. Will def return for more creative libations.
(4)Tracy C.
(4)Kathryn S.
Update: I really missed out not ordering an entree the first time around. Oh my goodness. This is some of my favorite food in St. Louis. Fantastic.
(5)Katie S.
(3)Krista B.
Always a great meal. The dishes are made with fresh ingredients, service is unpretentious and spot on. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. They take reservations, always advized on the weekends. The appetizers are all great, and entrees are very hearty. Well worth the value.
(4)Darrin S.
(5)Angie S.

(5)Rich D.
Great food, limited selection but great specials and generous portions. Prices are slightly high. Not likely to return. We had the same hairy, unkempt, not busy but impatient and somewhat rude server. Just unlucky I guess...
(3)Brian B.
(4)Niall G.
unique, inventive, wonderful Had the prociutto wrapped mahi mahi over grilled bread cubes, greens, and local tomatoes. fantastic. bartender served great cocktails- and offered a perfect blend of my favorite ingredients with his own flair. Food is incredibly value priced. thought it was intimate and inviting. Will try the aero pressed coffee the next time.
(5)Jennifer K.
(5)Dawn M.
(4)Kim R.
Good lord...where has this place been all my life. This is truly a hidden gem in the heart of Maplewood. The service was great and the food was wonderful. The chicken pot pie, stuffed dates, and crawfish dip are not to be missed.
(5)Lorraine S.
(5)Tom B.
Giving Water Street a 2 star for two reasons: First, we were seated then waited 10 mins before anyone came to take our drink orders. Second, the food was below par for the price. I would advise my friends not to dine here.
(2)Richard H.
A must try
(5)Michelle I.
My husband and I eat at Water Street about once a month. We love the small menu, delicious food and incredible drinks. You have to try the bruschetta trio!
(4)Valerie L.
Lovely romantic place for dinner. Friendly staff. Their special is the pâté, which I've never had before (ever), so I tried it there. Was decent, but since I've never had pâté, I can't really compare. My entree was the bacon wrapped salmon, which was great. Whole dish was very tasty. Boyfriend got the shrimp and chorizo. He said he loved it, too. Dessert was the tart of the day, which was pear and raspberry, but all I tasted was pear :( Had a $50 Groupon, and our bill was still $30+. But I had a cocktail and a glass of wine. Boyfriend had a beer.
(4)Rachel P.
Best restaurant and cocktail bar in St Louis by far! Ambiance, quality, service all in check. Must haves-bacon wrapped dates, a Lions Tooth cocktail, & pot pie.
(5)Katherine B.
(4)Anthony B.
(3)Cindy H.
Used a groupon during happy hour. Win. Win. Had the cheese plate, figs, flatbread, and chocolate cake with wine. Food was good, not exceptional. Service and atmosphere will bring us back!
(3)Mike P.
(2)Jamal M.
Chicken pot pie was on point, I had roasted vegetable lasagna, both had a lot of flavor. Atmosphere was cool. They have movie night on Friday nights. The drink I had was a basil ginger cocktail, it wasn't bad. Overall nice place, service was good.
(4)Lydia L.
(3)Sheenah C.

(3)Issy P.
(4)Stephen R.
(2)Leslie S.
(4)Alex A.

(2)Morris R.

Great food. Some nights are difficult to get a table. Good drinks and date place.

It was a rainy night and we needed to get some grub. We decided to just go down Manchester and decided upon Water Street. Décor: Dark and cozy, semi-classy. We got the seat right in/by the window (Which I love!) so we definitely had our privacy from the rest of the restaurant (lol, minus the fact that people can look inside,,). The view isn't terrific outside ; it was more abandoned actuall), so we were just about alone. Service: Attentive and nice. Was able to sample wine and before switching for something else. Food: This is where it was 'meh'. We got - 3 bruschetta dish: There was one normal bruschetta, one pesto and one honey&gorgonzola. The first two were good/pretty normal but the third one was way too salty for my friend and my taste (may be attributed to the fact that we aren't the biggest fans of gorgonzola, haha but we wanted to try anyway) - I got the flatbread special, which had chorizo, cheese, tomatoes and I think spinach. It wasn't anything special but there was a LOT of cheese. - Friend got the trout, which he thought was only okay - We ended with the vanilla bean ice cream with espresso poured over it: It's a good presentation but otherwise, it was just ice cream in espresso, lol. Overall: This place didn't blow me or my friend away and since nothing really impressed us, I don't think I'm coming back. I was going to give it 2 stars, but the service was good so it was 3.

(4)Jeff S.
Such a great focus on the combination of flavors, and the hand-crafted cocktails are so on-point! Each time we come, we are delighted with ourselves for the great decision to come!

(4)Dan W.
(5)Allison C.
It was alright. Small portions for the price. Just ok. Good friends as dining company make any ok restaurant experience better.
